HM310 Health Care Law and Government Regulations
Prerequisite: HM 300.

This course provides a basic working knowledge of law and government regulations affecting health care. Utilizing textbooks, articles and case studies, students will review legal and ethical issues in health care delivery including medical ethics; case tort and criminal law; liability, negligence, patients rights, privacy and confidentiality regulations, informed consent and other topics. The course will also provide indepth review of government policies and regulatory guidelines relating to the operation of health care systems, including the impact of policy on care delivery and responsibilities ascribed to health care managers.
